In honor of back to school, that time of year that excites parents, kids and teachers, Avery Dennison has announced a sweepstakes to help out dedicated teachers.
The “Avery Celebrates Teachers” Sweepstakes honors U.S. teachers and all that they do for our children on a daily basis. Avery, the school and office supply company, is sponsoring this wonderful sweepstakes to help out our great teachers. Due to budget cuts and the economy, many teachers and students go without even the most basic school supplies. Studies by the non-profit organization World Vision show that teachers spend on average at least $500 of their own money each school year on supplies for their students. This sweepstakes aims to alleviate some of this financial burden, as well as pamper a few lucky teachers. (Note: homeschooling parents are eligible to win as well!)
This sweepstakes is open to those who are currently working in the teaching profession: teachers, administrators, student teachers and homeschooling teachers. Please see the official rules of the sweepstakes for more complete rule information.
The Avery Celebrates Teachers Sweepstakes runs until September 15th, 2010. Teaching professionals may enter once daily to win one of these fantastic prizes:
- One Grand Prize Package, which includes: a goodie bag of Avery products valued at $500; a SpaFinder gift card valued at $350; and a Starbucks gift card valued at $150
- Three (3) Second Prize Packages valued at $200 each
- Five (5) Third Prize Packages valued at $80 each
Did you know that Avery is the only school and office supply manufacturer that participates in Box Tops for Education? When you purchase select Avery school supplies for the new academic year you also receive Box Tops coupons to clip and return to participating schools to be redeemed for cash. Each school then uses the cash at their discretion to purchase new supplies, fund programs, or buy much-needed equipment, computers, etc. To learn more, visit www.avery.com/btfe.
Spread the word about this wonderful sweepstakes by sharing this information with anyone in the teaching profession you know!
For Mama’s wonderful readers, Avery has provided a special gift basket prize full of Avery Dennison school and office supplies such as Avery NoteTabs™, Label Pads, HI-LITERS®, Glue Stics, Labels, Binders, Dividers, Markers and more—a retail value of $50! My favorite back to school memory is my parents took pictures of me in the early morning before heading out to the school.
Hiya on this super day!
Well, I don’t personally remember it, but Mom always mentions how the first day of Kindergarten I came home crying, not because anything happened, but because I wanted to go back — alas, it was only half day session. But, I did get my wish a month later when they pushed me up to first grade. LOL

My favorite back to school memories always involved buying new clothes and backpack for the new year. Otherwise, I probably wasn’t all that happy to be returning to school:)
My favorite back to school memory was always the night before school started when my mom would get out all the new school supplies, school bags and lunch bags and divide everything between the siblings. I always did the same thing for my kids and they loved it.
Thanks Chrissy.
Thank you for blogging about the sweepstakes. With all the budget cuts going on, this would be great for my 4th grade classroom!
My favorite memory is of my mom writing a message on my napkin tucked inside my lunch box.
I always loved picking out my first-day-of-school outfit!
My favorite school memeory is the night before school started, my mom would spresd out all the NEW school supplies, and my brothers and I would take turns picking . We always had a new school bag to put all our supplies in.
My favorite back to school memory was when I was so very excited for picture day that I got up in the middle of the night (I thought that it was morning) to shower and get dressed. When I came out of the shower, my dad was watching television, and I asked him what he was doing up so early. Ha ha! Joke was on me!!!
A favorite back-to-school-memory? Standing at the front door each year on the first day of school to get my picture taken before beginning a new grade.
My favorite memory of school is my teacher, Mrs. Georgia Purtee my sixth grade teacher. She made her students feel just like her children, she laughed, joked and talked to us. She is full of life and she was a wonderful companion to all of us, and I and the rest of the class(even the ones that got in trouble) love her. She is one out of a million, and I feel lucky to have had her for a teacher and friend in school.
That would be when I was a kid, I remember that our elementary school read a certain number of books in the school year so our principal had to kiss a pig! It was the highlight of my elementary life!
