Mama recieved a thermal tote to review from Michelle and I can’t say enough about it. I chose the thermal insulated tote and have been using it for everything! It’s a soft cooler bag with beautiful polka dot fabric. It has an awesome strap that I can use to carry it on my shoulder very comfortably. I even had my last name personalized on the bag! Everytime I go out with it, friends and strangers comment on how cool of a bag it is.

Review of The Firefighter's Park in Bensalem PA

So I went to this park today for a playdate and I was impressed. I have to thank a local Daddy Blogger named Ron for the tip about The Firefighter’s Park in Bensalem, a good friend, Jen for inviting us and two other friends, Diana & Coleen for joining us today!

I was shocked to find anything down this road. I really thought it would just be a development. If you know where Neshaminy Mall is then you can find this park. At the intersectin of Home Depot & TD Bank you want to go down the road that is on the right side of the bank. It appears to be a development of houses. I’m sure you can get to this park many ways…ha! I’m just giving you an idea of where it is…lol. Plus, Mama is really directionally challenged.

I imagined this park was going to be red and Diana hinted to it as well, but it wasn’t. I’m not sure if she was as surprised as I, because I forgot to ask her…ha! It was a mixture of colors like most playgrounds. It has the same ground surface that the “Blue Playground” in Northampton Twp has. There is a place for the little ones to ride their bikes. There are metal tables and benches with umbrellas…I was delighted to see that on a hot summer day I could be sitting comfortably out of the sun and still be sitting so close to the playground to keep an eye on my daughter.

And, there are huge bathrooms with soap and running water!

I give this playground a thumbs up! It’s worth checking out!

Volunteer for Build Week, April 20-25th, Freedom Playground in Havertown PA

Wow! What an amazing idea that has taken so many people to volunteer for it to all come together. Build week is coming up!

Freedom Playground will allow typically developing children and children who have a wide range of special needs to play, grow and develop along side one another. Our playground will be fully wheelchair accessible and will offer an extensive variety of activities that promote social interaction, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, sensory integration and most importantly, fun!

Volunteer for Build Week
Thank you helping to build Freedom Playground! Know that we greatly appreciate your time, and we can assure you that you’ll find this opportunity one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.

There is a way for everyone to participate, regardless of your skill level. We need people with specific talents such as carpenters, but we also need people who’ve never swung a hammer in their life. We need specific tools like circular saws, but we also need people to carry the lumber once it’s cut. We need artists to design and paint murals, but we also need people to cook the breakfasts and lunches. There will be many different types of specific and generic jobs available.

Follow the link below to register for a shift that fits your schedule. Free lunch and dinner will be served. And don’t worry about hiring a babysitter, we’ll provide free babysitting for children 9 years and younger. Your children aged 10-13 are welcome to work on the site within arm’s reach of a guardian, and ages 14-17 can help build but may not use power tools.

We Need Your Talent
Anyone interested in providing childcare must have 2 valid clearances from the Pennsylvania State Police – a Criminal Records Check and a Child Abuse History Clearance. If you do not already have your clearances, the process is easy and painless.

In order to obtain your clearances please follow the links below:
Criminal Record Check: This clearance maybe returned instantly and you can print it out right on your home printer.

Child Abuse History Clearance: Follow the directions on the PA Department of Public Welfare’s website. Please check the Volunteer Box on the form. This clearance must be sent away and might take several weeks to receive. You do NOT need the FBI clearance.

Please bring copies of both clearances with you on your appointed day and time to the Childcare Area.

We Need Your Tools
Open your garage and help supply us with the tools to build Freedom Playground; bring your saws, drills, hammers and wheelbarrows. All tools will be inventoried and returned back to you in as good or better condition as we received them, or we will replace them. That is a promise! Indicate your tool donation when you register. Our Tool Coordinator Chris Wilson will contact you to facilitate your donation.

We Need Your Friends
Please help us to recruit additional volunteers! We won’t be able to complete our playground without help from all your family, friends, and neighbors. Please direct them to our website to register.

Thank you for your support of Freedom Playground. Together we are giving ALL children an extraordinary place to reach their full potential!
