Mama Kicks It at B & R Fitness with Kickboxing with Julius King
So, this week I walked into B & R Fitness Center in Feasterville located in Bucks County PA for my appointment with my personal trainer, Julius King, from All Fitness Customized Training. They have an office located inside B & R Fitness Center. Every week I never know what Julius has planned for my training session, which keeps me interested and motivated to go. Each week it’s something new I’m learning for example, one week it was a fun workout learning racquetball, some weeks it’s working out my core with various weights and movements, other weeks it’s working the machines and now this week it was kickboxing, hands wrapped with tape and in punching gloves and all! Check Mama out in this video below. Although I took Karate Classes when I was a child, I had never done Kickboxing and must admit I was a little scared getting started. It was an intense workout and I felt empowered after it was over!

I can’t wait till my daughter is old enough to reap the benefits of Julius’s training. I’m eager to instill the love and knowledge of fitness into her mind. I figure if I can raise her with the attitude that fitness and taking care of her health is essential and not an option, then she will think it’s just as important as any other part of her everyday life.

B & R Fitness Center is finishing up their renovations and the gym is looking better than ever! The children’s nursery is beautiful and as always my daughter and I love the staff. Her favorite part is all the social time she gets with the other children and the different toys that she doesn’t have at home. My favorite part is the loving atmosphere the staff give her and the glass front wall, both make me feel so safe when I drop my daughter off. If my daughter even thinks about having separation anxiety, the staff come right over and make her feel special and give me the nod to go ahead and leave for my workout. I love that they look out for her. Compared to other local gyms in Bucks or Montgomery County, B & R Fitness is the best bang for your buck with the least inexpensive fees and a huge selection of classes, machines and other amenities. They have super camps in the summer and awesome birthday party packages, especially the sports related themes!
This week’s training session with All Fitness Customized Training was all about the bonsai ball and the resistance bands. Every week, we focus on making my core stronger and strength training, toning my body. Exercises on an exercise ball are a challenge because I have to keep my balance while doing the exercise. By Mama having to keep my balance, I’m working several muscles at once to keep myself on the ball…it’s like more bang for my buck.
I know I promised a video post this session, but I forgot my camera…doh! I’ll try and remember it on Monday. I made spin class both Sunday and Friday this week! Yeah I’m planning on Sunday spin at B & R Fitness this weekend!
Santa Claus was good to Mama. He brought me racquetball gear. I can’t wait to start playing the game on a regular basis. The one time I played it a few weeks ago, it was a GREAT cardio workout!

So Mama slacked off and didn’t get 12/13 post up about my training session until tonight, the night before my next training session. All Fitness Customized Training had me use the resistance bands to make my arms not be able to function for the rest of the day…I mean to work my arm muscles…lol. After the bands and some other exercises, he had me run/walk the track which totally pushed me out of my comfort zone.
In all seriousness, the training is working, today I did 10 REAL push-ups! I probably could have done even more. My core muscles are getting stronger. I love this. My core and arms have always been my biggest issue as I’m sure they are with most woman. I made spin class twice this week, so I’m thrilled with myself. I hope to drop 10lbs and continue to get stronger core muscles.

Mama Trained Today & Learned How To Play Racquetball Too
And yes, I actually hit myself with the ball once…doh! It’s a really fun game and a super workout with All Fitness Customized Training at B & R Fitness Club. I got my heart rate up very quickly without even noticing…that’s how much fun I had. Racquetball is played with a hollow rubber ball in an indoor or outdoor court. In Mama’s opinion it was similar to tennis except the ball contained itself because the court is enclosed by 4 walls and a ceiling, which are all legal playing surfaces. There is no net. It reminded me of playing wall ball back when I was in school. Seriously if you are looking for a fun way to lose the weight, this is an idea to really consider. The courts are free to use with your membership. You can reserve a court for your time/day, however I’m not sure it’s necessary as they have a lot of courts. Due to B & R’s fire several months ago a big part of the club is being renovated or has been renovated and several of the courts are included in the renovation. Gotta love fresh courts and gym equipment!
All Fitness Customized Training totally worked me out with a dose of medicine yesterday….medicine you ask??? The medicine ball…they had me throwing the medicine ball all over B & R Fitness Club, slamming it into the walls, bouncing it around as if it were a light weight dodge ball (which it totally isn’t). Today, my muscles feel the wrath of that ball and oh the wall was undefeated (per my trainer).
